Leon M. Pierhal - CEO and President of OPEL Technologies
Mr. Pierhal has over forty years of management experience in Semi-Conductor, Telecommunications and Computing Technology development companies such as Amdahl Corporation, Intel Corporation, Masstor Systems Corporation, and Jupiter Technology. As a senior management executive with broad international experience, Mr. Pierhal has had direct responsibility for P&L, sales and marketing, and corporate development for several major companies requiring strategic expertise. He has experience with capitalizing and launching technology startups, mergers and acquisitions of technology companies, as well as turning around emerging companies by developing new sales divisions, channels and strategic partners. Mr. Pierhal has assisted a significant number of companies with capital formation and re-capitalization from private and public sources. He contributed exceptional strategic and tactical vision, strong team development and leadership skills. In addition, Mr. Pierhal has impressive experience in the area of technology startup company development and serves as an Outside Board Member to several such firms as well.
Lawrence R. Kunkel - Chairman of the Board
Lawrence R. Kunkel is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of OPEL Solar International. He also serves as Chairman of the Audit Committee and as a member of the Corporate Governance and Compensation committees. Presently, Mr. Kunkel serves as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of American Strategic Holdings, LLC which is an investment holding company that provides equity capital to strong technology start-ups and acquisition investment for middle market technology leaders in the defense, medical device and clean-tech sectors. Most recently, he completed a position as Senior Advisor for Renewable Energy where he acted as chief energy strategist to Governor Donald Carcieri of Rhode Island. Throughout his 30 year career, Mr. Kunkel has served as an Economist and game theory Corporate Strategist for Modular Thermal Technologies, Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, New York Life Insurance Company and Kunkel Strategic Services, IBC. He is the author of many academic and professional publications focusing on law and economics, strategic planning, renewable energy, antitrust and econometric modeling. Mr. Kunkel holds a B.A. Degree with Honors in Economics from Providence College and an A.M. Degree in Social Science (Economics) from The University of Chicago. While at The University of Chicago, he served as the Research Assistant to George J. Stigler the 1982 Nobel Prize winner for Economics. In 2005, Mr. Kunkel was the recipient of Certificates of Special Congressional Recognition from both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.
Samuel Peralta - Director
Dr. Samuel Peralta, has over 25 years of business experience in the high-tech sector. Currently Chairman of Envergence and Business Director of Kinectrics, he serves on the Board of Directors for OPEL Solar and Axiom NDT. Previously, he headed Qvadis, a smartphone software provider; was CTO for OH Solar, based on an acquisition from Texas Instruments; and served in key positions at Ontario Hydro and the Ontario Laser and Lightwave Research Centre.
His Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Wales is complemented by studies at the Rotman School of Management, the Schulich School of Business, and Edinburgh Business School. Dr. Peralta has received awards from the high-tech community for digital publishing and laser inspection. He has authored over 150 papers, holds patents on tritium batteries, and been invited speaker at conferences ranging from the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE) to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's Advanced Study Institute (NATO-ASI).
Tristram Collins - Director
Mr. Collins has over twenty-five years of business experience. He holds an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration and an AB from Dartmouth College. Currently President of Grassmere Acquisition Corporation and President & CEO of Great Point Holdings, LLC, his recent focus has been on financing and management of high-growth firms, exemplified by AcuStream LLC, Sustainable Building Innovations, and numerous other portfolio companies. Previously, he was a Director and Senior Managing Executive at Nassau Broadcasting Partners, L.P. where he grew the company from 11 radio stations into the 15th largest radio broadcaster, by station count, in the U.S. He was also previously an investment banking executive with over $85 billion of transaction experience. At Citigroup Global Markets, he was a Managing Director and sector head specializing in broadcasting and media, where he managed global relationships, transactions and mergers and acquisition (M&A) advisory assignments, including $6 billion of Viacom financings. He also held senior executive positions at Merrill Lynch & Co., where, among other assignments, he helped execute Infinity Broadcasting’s $3.2 billion initial public offering (IPO). |
